MEAG Power Vision 2045
In 2026 MEAG Power updated its Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) – a roadmap to meet the future capacity and energy requirements of its 49 public power Participant communities. Since 2016, MEAG Power has delivered an average of 65% emissions-free energy. Our clean energy portfolio compares extremely favorably with both the state and national averages, and we’re aiming higher.
Our vision to transition our resource portfolio to address future requirements is on track to potentially exceed 90% emissions-free energy delivered by 2045 (subject to future decisions on additional generation to serve large loads).
MEAG Power’s Projected Delivered Energy
The IRP charts a course toward achieving this vision via a number of strategic steps:
- Adding solar energy, battery storage and fuel cells to our portfolio.
- Adding nuclear energy from planned uprates to Plant Vogtle Units 1 & 2, and Plant Hatch Units 1 & 2.
- Adding nuclear energy from Plant Hatch Units 1 & 2, which received NRC approval in 2026 extending the operating license 20 years to 2054 and to 2058, respectively.
- Adding nuclear energy from Plant Vogtle Units 3 & 4 related to Projects J and P, which will come back onto the MEAG Power system starting in 2043.
